It’s a time of education for both of us
This
will be a time of education for both parties in the partnership.
No doubt, you have some understanding about websites and
many questions you want answered. We have questions about
your business to better respond to you.
Let’s
start with some information that addresses many basic
questions.
Hosting:
We have a long-term relationship with a quality host that
offers a wide variety of services at a low cost. See
this list for features. The cost for the standard
service is: $19.95 a month plus a one-time $29 setup
fee. You
pay your site fees directly to the host and you pay only
what the service costs. We do not make money on hosting.
Additional
services are available for advanced functions including
e-commerce tools. Be assured these fees are very reasonable
and competitive.
Domain
name: Some clients already have a domain name,
some do not. We can help assign your existing domain name
to your new site or help you choose a new domain name
that will work for your business. Occasionally this requires
some consulting time to meet your specific requirements.
You pay for your domain name registration. It is registered
in your name, not ours. We do not make money on registering
domain names.
Search
engine placement: The most common question
we are asked concerns search engine placement. No one
can guarantee high search engine placement. However, we
take all the necessary steps to see that you have a fighting
chance in the competition for a ranking. We create code
that best suits your business and appeals to one group
of search engines and build pages in a scheme that appeals
to other types of search engines. We will also submit
your site to search engines for you and can recommend
other services that will continue to do this for you.
After
the first meeting: We write a proposal outlining
our plan of action and draw a site tree to help you envision
how many pages your site may contain and how they can
be arranged within your site to appeal to users
Our
proposals are no more canned than our site designs. We
create unique solutions to your needs and this process
may take up to two weeks.
During
this time we might request a visit to your business to
get a better idea of how you work. Please choose a contact
person for the project, as follow-up questions may be
necessary.
Fees
are based on our interpretation of the ideas and materials
you bring to our meeting. If you have a budget in mind,
please let us know in advance. All proposals are based
on estimated hours and it is best for all parties to work
toward a common goal, creating a site to meet your needs
within your budget.
Creating
your site: Once you have agreed to our proposal
we ask you to sign a contract and make your first payment.
Now we start the development process to create a unique
design solution for your site. Additional design studies
can be provided depending on your budget.
Once
you approve the design we move into the production
phase of the process. Projects can move along quickly
but generally take more time than clients expect. The
availability of site content—provided by you—affects
how quickly the site is ready to go online.
We
create a password protected information page on our site
that allows you to track the progress of your site in
development. Meeting notes, email address, production
timelines and other materials are available to everyone.
Follow
Up Services: Most projects require follow up.
Basic adjustments to the site and general questions are
easily answered and without cost. Some questions may require
further research and a consulting fee.
You
will be advised of these costs before we proceed with
the work.
You
may also receive advice from us including how to make
the most of your investment, such as how to market your
business and your new website.
See
Maintenance Services for
what you might expect after the site goes live.
