Here I am, center, kneeling with the staff of The Cincinnati Museum Center and members of the Russia conservation staff who worked on installing the Nicholas & Alexandra Exhibit. During the month of 1/05 I was working with a crew to build the set pieces. Behind us is the large feature piece of the exhibit. Hanging this painting was the high point of many hours of hard work for everyone, so we took photos for the sake of remembrance. Nicholas and Alexandra were the last imperial family of Tsarist Russia. Other exhibits I worked on include: RMS Titanic - This was a 10 days build up which allowed me to be do the install of larger artifacts such as a porthole, one of the arms that lowered the lifeboats and the whistle. This was a nicely designed exhibit which, I think, puts one close to the event, emotionally. Real Pirates - This was a 6 week build up. This was the first installation of this exhibit and much of the design was site specific. So we had to alter some set pieces and finish other pieces to fit the space. I got to do some welding and a lot of carpentry. The exhibit was large and the set pieces very elaborate, to include a walk-through scaled down model of a pirate ship. A great exhibit for the kids. Bodies, The Exhibit - For me, this was a 9 day build up were I was painting sets. The show design is stylistically minimal, which helps frame the bodies. The exhibit, however you feel about how the promoters came about the bodies... is an important education in regards to how you work... on the inside. Freedom Sisters - This exhibit is, in part, sponsored by The Smithsonian. It was, for the most part, built in The Museum Center Shop by many talents staff artists. Some pieces were contract out. It will travel after display at The Museum Center. I helped finish some set pieces and do the install.
Dinosaur Promotion installation - We spend four days in very cold weather building up a warm weather creature to promote an up coming Dino Exhibit. The above is embedded video streaming from our local newspaper. |
