Wednesday Never Change

© Mark Betcher

On Wednesday we meet for lunch like we have for twenty long years
This restaurant has been cooking our meals all these years
The menu hardly changes. Cheap talk by the cup
If Wednesdays never change it might keep my spirits up

We talk is about women, trucks motors and what we do for fun
And we talk about politics and how to keep our precious freedom
Your party line is worst than mine. They are all government hacks
Lunch is for preaching to the choir. Baby, that's a fact

Some folks come and listen until they can't listen no more
Someday our land could be saddled with a dictator
Life hardly changes. Rome fell into ruins
If Wednesday ever change it might be my undoing

You can't be this and you can’t be that and you can't be the way you are
If you don't feel it’s the time for change you can just live behind our bars
Life hardly changes. Don't give the kings more power
Wednesday would be better if I could just lock the kings in a tower

My one rule to live by is just say no or that less is more
Don't believe all you hear. The media darlings are just media whores
Life hardly changes. Dangerous vote how you feel
Wednesday would be better if more could see what is real

Read history and understand the way the world works
Right is left and left is right. Red is red and it just don't work
Life hardly changes. Threre's your new StalinHitler
Wednesday would be better if history wasn't just a blur

Those who say you're foolish say that it could never happen in this land
I say, you’re already feeding off the "feel your pain" government plan
Life hardly changes. Hollywood aint Washington
Wednesday would be better if we could all just keep our guns

Now freedom of speech is another precious thing
Today you can be hung out to dry when you say most anything
Life hardly changes. Who’s that knocking down your door
Wednesday would be better if we weren't running from a black helicopter

Your rights aren't a living and breathing thing like you may believe
Human nature has always been this way, I believe
Life hardly changes. Leave me hell alone
Wednesday would be better if I wasn’t taxed to the bone

Now lunch on Wednesday doesn't make everything true
It’s just one day not to break down from the political break down blues
Life hardly changes. Pour me another ice tea
Wednesday could only be better if I got my lunch for free
