< BACK TO THE SONG LIST

Here's a song that hasn't gelled yet... but this is the best version so far even though I've got a long way to go to make what I'm going for sound natural... I like songs with some story telling going on in addition to the story in the song. You'll hear George Thorogood in this... but I'm OK with saying this... because he stole it from the great black blues players... and that's OK... it's all a tribute to those old fellers any how.

Can O Blues

© Mark Betcher

Went to the bargain basement
Passed up the bolts and screws
Went to the bargain basement
Just to buy me a Can O Blues

One ripe and rusty can
The label was done gone
It whispered to me, Your my man...
Then it blew up like a bomb

Sparks & fire & heat & flame
A bucket of gasoline burns just the same
Burns just the same

As love is where love is
The clerk said to me
She blew me a big red wet kiss
She made my wallet bleed

If it’s too good to be true
Then Lord don’t buy that rusty Can O blues
That bargain basement has no view
Just a can of black hearted brew
