Heavens Open Up Song Outsider Art Painting

When the heavens open up
And the rain comes a pourin down
I hope my baby get a closer to God
When they bury her in the ground

You don’t look good no more
Undertakers at the door
Your sick bed talk is over now
You don’t seem to care anyhow

Grave yard dirt in my eye
Dug a hole for you right outside
This dirt won’t make me cry

When the heavens open up
And the rain come a pourin down
This will be my day, Oh Lord
In a whiskey. I will drown

You’re in that coffin box
There aint no silver locks
Don’t wake up and don’t walk out
Can someone lock that box.

Grave yard dirt in my eye
Dug a hole for you right outside
This dirt won’t make me cry

I’m going back to town. And the rain is a pouring down
I run over your wedding gown. The day they plant you in the ground
You’re going four feet down. You’re going six feet down.
Your going down down down. Down into the groun

Flag nailed to a hearse car
We don’t have to drive too far
I pack up your socks and rags
I put your clothes in a Goodwill bag

When the heavens open up
And the rain comes flooding down
Digger turns his coat to the cold
Rusty shovel sings that old coffin sound

Grave yard dirt in my eye
Dug a hole for you right outside
This dirt won’t make me cry

Flowers grow on the dirt
Sun bruns out the hurt
Grave marked with one last curse
Cover up the years of your best and worst
