Victory Box I built this box for a charity auction. It was part of a collections
of boxes folks built for Lori Seibert. I don't do charity stuff anymore...
frankly, I'm my own charity case... To go on... the auction theme had
something to do with peace... Of course... I didn't focus on lovey dovey
peace... but peace through victory. Peace is a thing you can achieve
within yourself... I'm all for that... but you can't impress your reality
on others or expect them to be like you. Therefore... collectively...
you have to be strong... that means a strong military and when pushed,
you have to take care of business. Read history... I just don't make
this stuff up... Anyway... I really loved this box and hope the new keeper
loves it too. The box was created not too long after 9/11. I
did three pieces fueled by my emotions over 9/11. A wall hanging flag
was the first one in which I used the bolt idea. I used the bolts and
hardware to symbolize the strength of American. You open the box and
get a sense that, through victory and strength you may find peace. The
holiday lights sort of glitter through the metal... just as hope
is sort of a glittery... misty concept in our minds. And, as I always
say... Read history + vote for freedom. |
